Today s work consists of lot s of special orders and some real nice ones that I ve been working on the past week.The briar gods have been smiling on me as the briar has been running clean and the grains bountiful! The first pipe was a special order taken at the Corp show that I couldn t resist doing first. An oversize copy of a nice Charatan shape:
A size 6,totally flawless, natural two star birdseye/cross grain! The other side is total tight birdseye....
Staying with the natural theme, I was asked to make a very large full bent natural. This is a seemingly impossible task and it s taken me a couple months of attempts until I finally hit upon the right block; and what a block it is. It resulted in a two star size B , natural straight grain:
The next commision was one of my favorite shapes. A Ser Jac Picta #1. I ve made many over the years and I think I m finally getting it . I made three, the first came down with a small flaw and will eventually be made into a black and tan. The second was just right for the order and the third was about 1/4 " taller than specified so I ve put that one on the web catalog as UB 255.

The next pipe was made for a good customer at his request. He took a couple different pipes and converted them into one shape. He asked for a two star birdseye cross grain and that s what he got. I did some understaining on it to further bring it out.
The next pipe shape was made after careful consideration of many similar pipe shapes. The customer and I discussed the different angles of many bowls and shanks before we arrived at this shape. It s graded a size 5, one star Pristine:
