This year is the 22 st annual Christmas Pipe ! This is one of my favorite shapes. It s a takeoff on a Castello Virgin Coral I ve owned since the early 90 s. I have made different versions of it before but none had the correct stem. This year I ordered one special from Italy. It is long and very flat with a hint of a fishtail. Wide, comfortable and thin. The pipe itself is very light at 1.4 oz . The shape is conducive to some fantastic grains. I hope you will enjoy this years model!

THE FIRST CHRISTMAS PIPE WAS PRODUCED FOR JOHN B. HAYES TOBACCONIST IN 1983. IT WAS A MODIFICATION OF A PIPE DAN SHAPE FROM ONE OF THEIR OLD CATALOGS. I THINK 6 OR 8 WERE MADE. AS THIS WAS A LIMITED EDITION NONE WERE EVER MADE AGAIN. THIS TRADITION HAS CONTINUED EVERY YEAR . SINCE THEN, MORE AND MORE HAVE BEEN MADE EVERY YEAR GENERALLY AVERAGING 75 PIPES.1987 WAS THE RECORD YEAR WHEN 144 WERE ORDERED.

THESE PIPES ARE IMMINENTLY COLLECTABLE.. PREVIOUS EDITIONS HAVE BEEN FOUND AT PIPE SHOWS AND A FEW COLLECTORS HAVE ALL OF THEM.THE PIPES ARE STAMPED WITH THE AMERICAN LOGO AND BELOW THAT CHRISTMAS PIPE AND THE YEAR IT WAS MADE.. GENERALLY, THEY HAVE BEEN CLASSIC SHAPES THAT HAVE BEEN STYLIZED . EACH SHAPE IS UNIQUE AND HAS NEVER BEEN DUPLICATED ! CHECK OUT THESE PAGES.

I HAVE DONE A PICTORIAL OF THE STAGES OF THE CARVING OF THE 1996 CHRISTMAS PIPE.
