Today s work consists a pipe for a customer who likes the Black & Tan finish. In fact, he designed the carving on this very light weight Lovat.
While looking for a block for the above pipe, I came across a tall very well grained block that just felt right; like it had no density to it. After sketching the Lovat I also sketched a tall stack in hopes of hitting some really good cross grain/biurdseye. I used the new Bengal finish, the size is B. This pipe is on the web catalog as :

The next pipe is one of the first special orders I ve gotten to in awhile. It s a catalog shape Rhodesian, as I ve had lot s of experiences with Rhodesians lately this came easy.
Speaking of Rhodesians, I just got back from the silversmith the first group of Christmas pipes with engraved silver bands. He did a real nice job! The bands are heavy and have Christmas 2000 engraved in them. I ll have the Cabernet and the Tanblast until tomorrow afternoon after which they ll reside at John B Hayes Tob but can be obtained via e mailing me until then. The Pristine is listed on the web catalog. Eventually there will be two more Pristines available.
