Todays work consists of one pipe that I spent all day working on yesterday. I was looking at the special order list and noticed a lot of Gold Apples listed in various finishes, so disregarding strict order I decided to make a bunch of them. As I was searching thru a box of wood I came across a tall fan shaped block that had freehand written all over it. The grain was perfectly straight, that could be seen without sanding the sides. I dropped the Apples and went right to work on this pipe. Odds are when you attempt a large pipe that it will be a blast. Lot more area to hit flaws but this one was clean a few minor pits. I had put a regular stem on but when I saw how nice the pipe was coming I switched to a ferrule and inset stem . It s graded as a two star, mainly to keep the price from getting ridiculous.Available on the web catalog as :
